CONNECTIONS

This series is composed of five collections of textiles, that explore the concept of connections. Abstracted puzzle motifs are used as a representation of different moments in a person’s life. Although we may wish to erase certain pieces of our past, every single one of them is necessary in order to form our story. Working on this series has become a healing experience that has left me feeling empowered and free. This series is about embracing the connections one has to the scars of the past.
The first three collections were created by applying a combination of techniques such as weaving, trapunto and embroidery. My intention was to take these traditional techniques and give them a contemporary twist, while still maintaining functionality. The last two collections started with material and process explorations, and were transformed into digital designs.
